Your floor
The floor is made of a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin that can be applied with or without a crack-bridging membrane. Despite its short curing time, PMMA is easy to handle and apply.
The result is a durable floor that is hygienic, anti-slip, and highly wear-resistant.
System Overview:
The system includes an optional crack-bridging membrane.
Always begin with the primer Plex 1120, applied using the notched trowel 4700-280 B2 or a roller. Broadcast the wet primer with fire-dried quartz sand (0.8–1.4 mm).
If the primer is applied with a roller or trowel, there is a risk of applying it too thinly, which may result in improper curing.
Optionally, apply the membrane Plex 1350. Lay fiberglass fabric into the still-wet membrane. Once the fiberglass is in place, apply another layer of Plex 1350. Stop at expansion joints to keep floor sections or gallery parts separate, allowing them to move independently.
Apply Plex 1520 with the notched trowel 4676-000-S2 to ensure the correct layer thickness. During application, keep the trowel holder upright and regularly check that the notches are not worn down!
Allow the material to flow before broadcasting it. Always empty the entire contents of the bucket at once to avoid a rapid reaction in the container. Broadcast the structural layer with 0.4 mm–0.8 mm mortar until no wet spots remain.
Ensure adequate ventilation during floor application!
The final layer is the topcoat Plex 1690 Coloured. The level of anti-slip depends on the finish. Apply the first layer at 800 g/m², with an optional second layer at 500 g/m².
